San Francisco proved a challenging task trying to pick just one thing to do in the city. A city as old as this, is steeped in culture and history. San Francisco’s origins as a port town walking along the piers was a great experience at to be expected. China town had me feeling as if I was in a different country. Fisherman’s wharf while a tourist trap, wasn’t without it’s uniqueness and charm. Though in the end Fort Point stood out the most to me. Fort Point was was planned as the most formidable deterrence America could offer to a naval attack on California during the civil war built between 1853 and 1861.
Fort Point was was planned as “the most formidable deterrence America could offer to a naval attack on California during the civil war” (NPS.GOV). It was built between 1853 and 1861. History lessons aside the trip to Fort Point is worth the trip alone due to the magnificent views of the Golden Gate Bridge. There are various things to explore in Fort Point itself and best of all entrance is free. It’s a Historic National Park that deserves your attention.
